A Banner Idea

Hello again, friends. I hope you are enjoying the Stampin’ Up! blog as much as we enjoy creating projects to share with you. This time of year isn’t my favorite. It’s cold outside, the skies are gray and the holidays are over. The swimming pool doesn’t open for five more months. January often leaves me feeling blah.

One thing I always enjoy is putting up some seasonal decorations in my home. I recently added blue/green tones to my kitchen and family room. I thought it might be nice to match the colors already in my home with a fun valentine banner.

The base for each flag was cut from First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. I cut each flag down to 4" x 6". I was able to get six flags from each sheet. Using a scrap piece of cardstock, I made a 4" x 6" flag pattern to cut the bottom of my flags.

Once they were all cut, I added hearts to each flag using the Heart Framelits Dies and the Full Heart Punch. I layered my pieces using Stampin’ Dimensionals, to give my banner some added depth. I finished them off with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons.

I love the look of stitching on a project, so I stitched all of the flags together. If you don’t have access to a sewing machine, the flags could all be hung on Baker’s Twine or Linen Thread.

The colors I used on my banner weren’t traditional red and pink, but I like to create using fresh and unexpected color combinations. Feel free to play along and create a valentine project using this color palette: Pool Party, Primrose Petals, Very Vanilla, and Old Olive.
