Stampin' Up! Ground Breaking

April 29, 2003

Stampin' Up! Breaks Ground on its New 55-Acre Campus

SALT LAKE CITY (April 29, 2003) - Stampin' Up!®, one of the nation's leading manufacturers of decorative rubber stamps and scrapbook accessories, will break ground on its new campus today at 5:00 PM. The new 55-acre site will be located at 12900 South 3600 West in Riverton. The first phase of the estimated $20-million project is scheduled to be completed in July 2004.

"I am very excited about this new endeavor for the company," said Shelli Gardner, cofounder and CEO of Stampin' Up! "We are looking forward to becoming a part of the Riverton community next year and are committed to being good neighbors."

The ground-breaking festivities will feature special events for the young and old alike. Governor Mike Leavitt and Mayor Mont Evans will be in attendance to officially welcome Stampin' Up! to the Riverton neighborhood and help the Stampin' Up! family plant roots in Riverton. Prior to the ground-breaking ceremony, Stampin' Up! demonstrators will be teaching more than 700 students at Rose Creek Elementary School to stamp on their new hard hats for a special school assembly that afternoon. During the Stampin' Up! Safety Assemblies at 2:00 PM and 2:45 PM, Gardner and representatives from Okland Construction will educate the students about construction safety and give them a sneak peek at the new site plans.

The ground-breaking is another milestone for Stampin' Up!, which was started in 1988 by Gardner and her sister. During the early years, they filled orders from Gardner's living room. Fifteen years later, Stampin' Up! has more than 425 employees and operates three state-of-the-art facilities, including a 40,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Kanab; an 110,000-square-foot distribution and warehouse center in west Salt Lake City; and a 40,000-square-foot corporate office and call center in Sandy. The new Riverton campus will merge the distribution center and corporate headquarters and will offer more than 300,000 square feet of Class-A office space. The manufacturing facility will remain in its current location. Stampin' Up! has experienced phenomenal growth in the past year, with sales estimated to be $200 million this year compared to $150 million last year.
